Handwara, June 02 (KNS): In order to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic, an extensive market checking drive was conducted in the jurisdiction of Police station Qalamabad of Mawer area by Tehsildar Langate and SHO Qalamabad.

According to KNS Correspondent, Tehsildar Qalamabad Mohammed Ramzan accompanied by, SHO Qalamabad Javid Ahmad Shikeh and officials of food and supplies visited different Markets of Qalamabad and checked the rate lists of the shopkeepers.

SHO Qalamabad said the aim of the market checking was to ensure that good qualities of items are put on sale, besides, to curb black marketing & profiteering of essential commodities.

During surprise checks various shops ranging from those selling chicken, vegetables, sweets and fruits were checked. General buyers of the market appreciated the step of the police along with food civil supplies and demanded that such drive must continue in the area

Locals appreciated the move of the Tehsildar in wake of the global pandemic of COVID-19 and appealed authorities to continue such drives in the area (KNS)
