Srinagar, 30 Sept (KNS) : Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday inaugurated the first-ever free medical camp at Mir Behri Dal, an area inhabited by nearly 20,000 people that has historically been deprived of basic medical services.
In a Statement issued ,The camp, organized with support from the Health Department, brought together a team of senior doctors and specialists from various fields who offered consultations and free medicines to the residents. Also present at the camp were the Deputy Director Health, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Block Medical Officer (BMO), and a full team of healthcare professionals, ensuring the camp's success in delivering immediate medical aid to hundreds of patients.
Speaking at the event, Tanvir Sadiq said it was deeply unfortunate that such a large and densely populated area, despite being part of Srinagar city, had been left without even the most basic health infrastructure for decades. “It is unacceptable that the people of Mir Behri Dal have had to live without access to medical facilities and proper road connectivity. Today’s camp is just a beginning. I am committed to establishing permanent healthcare facilities in this area on an urgent basis,” he said. In a personal gesture, Sadiq also donated additional medicines from his own resources to supplement those provided by the government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In addition to the medical outreach, Tanvir Sadiq used the occasion to announce a series of critical development projects aimed at transforming civic infrastructure in the region. Chief among them is the long-awaited Karam Shah Bridge, which he confirmed has now been finalized and will see construction begin as early as next month. The bridge is expected to drastically improve connectivity between Behri Dal and the rest of Srinagar.
He further announced the installation of calligraphic gates at key cultural and religious locations, including Dargah, Rainawari, Gasiyar, Mirza Kamil Sahab and Alamgiri Bazar, a move aimed at both preserving heritage and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the constituency. Bus stops across multiple locations have also been prioritized to improve local transportation facilities.
Another major announcement included the immediate start of work on the Kani Kachi to Moti Mohalla road, a vital stretch that will enhance local mobility and ease of access for residents in the interior areas.
“These are not mere announcements,” Tanvir Sadiq said adding, “This is a commitment to the people of this area who have waited far too long for their basic needs to be acknowledged. We are working not just to develop infrastructure, but to restore dignity and opportunity to a neglected community.”(KNS)
