Travel Agents real ambassadors of the Tourism: Secretary Tourism

Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) organised an interactive meeting with its members in which large number of TAAK general members participated to discuss upcoming winter tourism season  and ways and the means to make make Holidays of the travellers seemless and memorable.

Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez who was the chief guest on the occasion hailed the efforts of the TAAK in organising such an interactive session with general members.

The Secretary Tourism said travel and tour operators are the main components of the tourism sector who are the real ambassadors of the place.

He said government has always taken such destination promotors on board for promotional activities and also for policy making.

Stating that tourism department is making all out efforts in attracting tourists across the globe, Sarmad Hafeez said local service providers have to play an important role in sending tourists back with happy memories.

Earlier, President TAAAK Farooq  Kuthoo while welcoming the members said the association has organised the event to take the valuable feedback and suggestions from the members for making Kashmir a top tourist destination and also looking for ways to promote it as a preferred tourist destination.

He said TAAK has always been at the forefront in promoting the responsible tourism and engaging it's members for tourism promotional activities.

Kuthoo further said TAAK will further take some tangile measures that would benefit it's members and also streamline the travel trade sector.

On the occasion, former Presidents Rauf Tramboo and Ashfaq Siddiq Dug and highlighted the acheivements of the TAAK.

During the interactive sessions, many members gave suggestions and feedback on the workings of the association.
The members also interacted with Secretary Tourism and suggested him some measures for the hassle - free services of the travellers.
The overcharging by the services providers during peak season, hassle of union cabs at various destinations, introducing skiing in Srinagar's Zabarwan range, issuing permits for tourist taxis to cater to the rush of tourists were main suggestions put forth by the members.
The Secretary Tourism gave patient hearing and assured that all workable and viable suggestions will be considered.
