Handwara, Aug 23 (KNS): As wild animal attacks surge in the Drugoosa area of Mawer, a north Kashmir's in Handwara, local residents are expressing their anger towards authorities for their failure to effectively address the situation.

According to the residents, these wild animals are increasingly prowling, instilling fear within the community. Their mobility has been hampered due to the recent attacks on two individuals in the area.

The most severely impacted zone, Drangsoo Mawar, is where a 'man-eater' bear has generated panic and apprehension. As the incidents persist, the entire Mawar region is gripped by a sense of dread, with even parents hesitant to send their children to school.

Amidst accusations of administrative inaction, locals claim that despite repeatedly reaching out to authorities, substantial efforts to alleviate public suffering are yet to be seen on the ground.

The Divisional Wildlife Officer has responded, stating that their teams are actively engaged in the areas with reported instances of wild animal presence. He further elaborated that ongoing efforts are focused on tranquilizing the wild animals to mitigate the situation.(KNS)
