Students must co-operate, govt streamlining PMSSS: Nayeem Ahktar

With students admitted in various institutions outside state under PMSSS complaining that they have been left in a lurch, the government Wednesday said that authorities are streamlining the scheme and that the students must co-operate.
“It is not the case of cheating but to avoid the role of doubtful NGO’s the authorities are streamlining the PMSSS. The students have to co-operate for this and they also might have to bear the fees until their first semester will be completed, Education Minister Nayeem Ahktar told KNS over phone.
He said that the government seriously wants the students who are admitted in various institutions outside the state to avail scholarship facility under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS).
He further added that the government on regular basis is reviewing the progress of PM's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) and is taking the necessary corrective measures for better implementation of the scheme.
He said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad himself has urged the government of India to ensure that students of Jammu and Kashmir should know in advance about the schemes as well as the entitled colleges for availing the benefits of the scholarships under PMSSS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
It is to mention here that complaints continue to pour in from students pursuing degrees under PMSSS about the delay in release of their scholarship by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) led by Abdul Qayoom Wani had also threatened to go for a state wide strike if the ill treatment meted out to the students of JK under the scheme continued.
“MHRD has caused frustration among students by delaying the payment of scholarship to the students pursuing their studies in different colleges outside the state like Banglore, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, UP, MP. Despite tall claims of government, students have been put to trouble and mental agony and left to fend for themselves,” Wani had said. (KNS)
