Bandipora, Jul 08 (KNS): The district administration Bandipora has resorted to pick and choose policy in vacating the street vendors from Bandipora’s main market here, thus putting the question mark over the seriousness as well as the equality of the officials.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary had directed the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts to evict the grabbed land as well as the occupied place by the vendors and others in their respective districts.
Following the orders, the district Administration Bandipora also started the drive against the land occupiers. The administration vacated almost 50 street vendors recently but some among them are still installing their stalls in the market.
According to KNS Correspondent, sources said the street vendors who remained untouched in the drive were influenced or close aides of some politicians.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that some street vendors have not been vacated from the place as the politicians in the district have personally intervened for them.
However, the street vendors who were vacated from the spot said that the officials have selectively vacated the vendors from the market. “We have been given the alternate place but the place is not suitable for running the business keeping in view of the less movement of commuters,” they said.
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmed while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that there was no pressure in vacating the vendors but all the street vendors who had occupied the roadsides have been vacated as per the rules. (KNS)
