Srinagar Feb 24:(KNS) Poor and down trodden people belonging to ST community in Tral area of Pulwama District were being forced to pay for issuance of ST Certificates, as reported, besides they were suffering due to the non-availability of other basic required facilities.
This was stated by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi on Wednesday, while addressing a public meeting at Dodhmarg Tral and sought resolution of problems confronting people, besides strict action against those responsible for delay and corrupt practices on account of issuance of category certificates in favour of members of ST community.
PCC General Secretary was accompanied by Manpreet Singh JKPYC General Secretary, who also addressed the public meeting and urged the authorities to look into the genuine grievances of the people for their resolution.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee(JKPCC) General Secretary Surinder Singh on Wednesday addressed public meeting at Dodhmarg in Tral area of District Pulwama and expressed serious concern over the problems confronting people on various fronts especially the corruption being done by various employees, as reported against issuance of ST certificates, urging the Govt to investigate into the matter to fix responsibility.
Even after completing all the formalities and forced to pay money, the member of ST community get their category certificates after three four months, which was very astonishing and unfortunate, Channi said.
PCC General Secretary was told by the locals that PHE department have installed rubber pipes in Doodhmarg, Nagpathri and Gandtal area in Tral, which were not working, having suffered damages due to the bone chilling winter.
Surinder Singh Channi urged the PHE department to replace defunct rubber pipes by iron pipes, very immediately to ensure supply of water to people, who were living below poverty line and deserve equal treatment.
PCC General Secretary also demanded sanction of ration Depot and anganwari Centre to cater the Doodhamrg and other adjacent villages, besides ensuring that IAY was provided to real beneficiaries entitled to get benefitted through this housing scheme.
Surinder Singh Channi also expressed serious concern over the road connectivity in Doodhmarg, Nagpathri, Gandtal and other areas in Tral and urged the Govt to construct culverts at various places as that would ensure connectivity in these far flung areas, he added and appealed the LG J&K to look into the grievances of people living in different backward areas in Tral and elsewhere in J&K and ensure them equal treatment.(KNS)
