Srinagar, July 11 (KNS) : In a significant action against the narco-trade network operating in the valley, Srinagar Police have attached a residential property valued at over ?1.20 crore in the Lal Bazar area. The action comes as part of the ongoing crackdown to dismantle the financial ecosystem supporting drug peddling in the region.
Official sources told KNS that the property—a double-storey house constructed on 08 marlas of land—was attached under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The move is linked to the investigation of FIR No. 16/2026, registered at Police Station Lal Bazar under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
The attached property has been identified as belonging to Zamin Makhdoomi, son of Fayaz Ahmed Makhdoomi, a resident of Sikh Bagh, Lal Bazar. Police established that the asset was liable for attachment under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, following which due legal process was initiated.

The attachment proceedings were carried out peacefully and in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Eidgah, strictly adhering to the established legal framework.
A police spokesperson reiterated the force's zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, stating that such actions are not limited to prosecuting offenders but are equally focused on confiscating their ill-gotten wealth. "This measure is aimed at disrupting the drug trade and safeguarding the future of the youth from the menace of narcotics," the official added.
Srinagar Police have also appealed to the public to continue extending their support in the fight against drugs by sharing credible information about peddlers, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. (KNS)
