Srinagar March 16:(KNS) District Police Srinagar taking forward the  initiated drive of awareness and sensitization campaign in view of the growing menace of drug abuse and addiction especially among youth. Today held programs at different places with Srinagar City. These  programmes were started by distributing of informative stickers to make the general public aware about the ill-effects of drug consumption and drug peddling. 

SP Hazratbal Shri Sudhanshu Verma-IPS,  SDPO Hazratbal Shri Shafaat Mohammad-JKPS, SDPO Sadder Shri Azhar Rashid-JKPS, SDPO Shaheed Gunj Shri Shahijahan Choudhary-JKPS along with concerned SHOs and territorial officers visited some prominent institutions and places like Four Friends School Gillikadal Zaidibal Srinagar, Govt. Higher Secondary School Rawalpora, Govt. High School Natipora, Akash Coaching Institute Rajbagh, Edu. Solution Coaching Institute Karan Nagar, Hari Singh High Street Market, Iqbal Memorial Institute Bemina, Amar Singh College Srinagar and distributed the held brief interactive sessions with the audience about the substance abuse and then distributed stickers among them and to spread the awareness about the drug abuse.

SP Hazratbal while interacting with the students at Four Friends School Gillikadal Zaidibal, asked them to come forward to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from your society by playing active role in propagating and educating your dear ones about the drug abuse and were asked to contact on the given help line phone numbers for any assistance and to come forward for any information of drug peddlers. 

During campaign, SDPO Sadder & SDPO Shaheed Gunj asked the general public to kindly assist Police in identifying the drug peddlers and their masters behind the peddling, so that the society is made drugs free. They also asked for public support and cooperation by working together for a healthy Srinagar.

All the stakeholders have also been taken into confidence and assured them of any kind of assistance in order to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and its consumption from Srinagar. (KNS)
