JKTDC Employees Union Requests Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Postpone Board Meeting

Srinagar, July 3: The JKTDC Employees Union respectfully requests the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to kindly postpone the upcoming Board of Directors meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC).

This request is being made because the employees are not aware of the agenda items of the meeting and are worried that some important decisions may be taken without their knowledge or consultation. There are strong concerns that the government may be planning to outsource some of the Corporation’s key properties, including the Pahalgam Club and hutments. These units are among the highest revenue-generating properties of JKTDC, and outsourcing them may badly affect the Corporation’s income as well as the future of its employees and their families.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Outsourcing is usually done for loss-making units. In this case, the properties being talked about are not only profitable but also important for the survival of JKTDC.

It is also important to mention that the new Managing Director has just recently taken charge and has not yet had time to fully understand the problems being faced by the Corporation. Making big decisions like outsourcing at this stage may not be in the best interest of JKTDC or its employees.

The JKTDC Employees Union once again appeals to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to kindly intervene and defer the meeting so that the concerns of the employees can be heard and addressed.(KNS)
