Srinagar March 31 (KNS): A three day workshop organised in collaboration with 'Praja Foundation' that aimed to empowerment & capacity building of Municipal  councillors concluded today.

The broad objective of the program was to enable the participants to broaden their knowledge base concept of Urban Governance.

The workshop highlighted and helped in understanding roles and responsibilities of Municipal Councillors and functions of Srinagar Municipal Corporation as per SMC Act..

Three module of the workshop was divided into two phases. 

In one phase the workshop focused on introduction of Praja 74th Amendment, Urban Governance and how to read any Act.

In second phase the workshop focused on explaining The Jammu And Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act (JKMCA) which helped to understand their roles and responsibilities.

Priyanka Sharma and Mr Balwant Kirar held various sessions including  three Tier System of Government, 74th constitution Amendment Act, Method of reading an Act and feedback and discussions were held during the course of workshop.

Besides Corporates, Senior SMC Officers including Joint Commissioner Administration Mr Riyaz Ahmed Shah   Joint Commissioner Administration Syed Abul Qasim,  Mr Mudasir Hussain Chaudhary and others attended workshop.(KNS)
