Srinagar, Dec 30: The Kashmir Trade Alliance has termed the traffic police drive at marketplaces as the last nail in the coffin of their businesses.
Referring to the demolition operation in markets and commercial centers by Srinagar Municipal Corporation, KTA president Aijaz Shahdhar said that they are not ‘defending the violation of traffic rules in any way, however, a policy should be formulated regarding their business’.

According to a statmentb issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), reads, the KTA president further said that the Covid 19 has already broken the nerve of businessmen, traders and shopkeepers for the last two years and the economic and financial situation has reached the brink of catastrophe. He said business activities are also declining in the city, and this has been further aggravated by the drives started by SMC and traffic police. 
 "There are already very few car parking spaces in the city, in which case where the shopkeepers will and consumers park their cars", he said.

Shahdar said that he did not support the violation of traffic rules in any case and did not justify it. However, the concerned agencies should make alternative arrangements available before initiating such drives. KTA President said that relaxations should be given to the traders in the markets and a traffic policy should be formulated which would not cause any loss to the traders and would not affect the movement of people and vehicles.(KNS)
