Sajad Lone Announces Two-Week Travel Abroad to meet spouse, Amid Visa Challenges Faced by Cross-Border Couples

Srinagar, July 17(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference leader and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Thursday said that he will be outside the country for the next two weeks to attend a family reunion, amid ongoing challenges surrounding cross-border spousal visas between India and Pakistan.

Taking to X, In his post, Lone said that while he is away, his MLA office in Handwara and another office in Srinagar would remain functional to provide necessary assistance to the public. He humorously added that due to time zone differences, he often receives calls at odd hours.

Lone said that Indian citizens married to Pakistani nationals, especially those who have not been granted a Long-Term Visa (LTV) by the Indian government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"The past two months have been bad for those with Pakistani spouses," he wrote, noting that his own wife, a Pakistani citizen, remains unable to enter India due to visa restrictions following the recent Operation Sindhoor.

He also said that his wife is currently residing in a third country, unable to reunite with him in Kashmir. "She being a Pakistani citizen cannot travel to India, and I being an Indian citizen cannot travel to Pakistan. Now I am travelling to a third country in what is essentially a family reunion," Lone explained.
