Iltija Mufti criticises NC Government over July 13 observance

Srinagar, July 13(KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Sunday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) government over the handling of July 13 observances and accused the leadership of not honoring commitments made before the elections.

In a video statement, she said that on July 13, the gates of the martyrs' mausoleum were locked and access was restricted. She added that while there was heavy security on the previous day as well, she had still managed to visit the site.

Speaking about the political developments since the elections, she said there had been no change in the region. She recalled that last year, NC leader Omar Abdullah had tweeted that the party would commemorate July 13 with full observance once it returned to power.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

She said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had supported the NC with the hope that the party would work toward restoring their dignity.
She added that despite this support, Omar Abdullah chose to be in Delhi rather than Srinagar on the day of significance.

She also said that even with a strong presence in the assembly and parliament, the NC leadership had not taken steps to represent the people’s concerns. She said that the expectations with which the NC was voted into power had not been fulfilled.(KNS).
