RRRM welcomes Rahul Gandhi’s statement about Kashmiri Pandit community

Srinagar, Sept 11 (KNS): The Reconciliation, Return and Rehabilitation of Migrant Kashmiri Pandits (RRRM) had welcomed the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement in which he said that he will do something for Kashmiri Pandits.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) RRRM spokespersons said: “We, the KP community, appreciate Rahul Gandhi’s concerns about his own community brethren. Rahul is a Kashmiri Pandit, grandson of Indira Gandhi, whom the community admired and wholeheartedly always voted for in Kashmir. His reinforcing of KP identity has given a new energy to the beleaguered community. Rahul is KP community’s leader.”

The statement reads that he has promised the KP community, which is his own, to help them.
“We hope that he takes up his own community’s cause and helps in getting justice which has been eluding KPs for the past three decades. While asserting his KP identity, the whole community is now looking up to him to address our issues, help us in our dignified return to the valley and help get justice.”

It reads that all the welfare schemes that the refugee KP community today have had been initiated and set up during the UPA rule at the Centre. “In fact Shri Manmohan Singh is the only Prime Minister who visited migrant camps in Jammu.”

“We hope and pray that the bond that existed between the KP community, the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family will continue. The early nineties was a very bad phase for the community, J&K and the country. KP’s have suffered greatly and we hope that Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the community takes the cause of the KP’s and the Kashmiris overall to help bring peace and harmony in the valley,” the statement reads.
