New Delhi, July 5 (KNS): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has extended its full support to the global campaign ‘Silence for Gaza’, calling on people across the country to join a symbolic digital protest against the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza.
As part of the campaign, people are urged to switch off their mobile phones daily from 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM (local time) and refrain from any online activity—including posting, liking, or commenting on social media—during that period. The aim is to disrupt the digital footprint that global corporations profit from, many of which, a UN report suggests, are complicit in Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The CPI(M) cited the recent UN report From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide, which highlights the involvement of multinational corporations in facilitating what the party describes as Israel’s “genocidal assault” on Palestinians.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“These companies feed off our digital presence, while aiding surveillance and violence. This digital strike is a way of standing against that,” the party said in a statement.
Calling this a “small but powerful act of resistance,” CPI(M) urged all citizens to participate in the protest and spread awareness about it.
By supporting the ‘Silence for Gaza’ campaign, the CPI(M) reiterated its solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemned what it termed as Israel’s brutal and inhumane actions in Gaza. The party emphasized that collective silence can be a strong message of resistance and a call for justice.(KNS)
