Rising Singer Masrat un Nissa Felicitated for Celebrating Kashmiri Heritage Through Singing

Srinagar, Sep 06 (KNS) : In a significant event celebrating Kashmiri cultural and artistic achievements, the prominent cultural and literary organisation ‘Katha Batha’, in collaboration with Sufi Cafe and Restaurant, jointly felicitated the young and renowned singer Masrat un Nissa on Saturday here.

In a statement issued, The ceremony, held at a hotel in Srinagar, drew hundreds of fans eager to celebrate the rising star, who has gained widespread acclaim for her soulful renditions in the film "Songs of Paradise."

Masrat un Nissa has captured the hearts of audiences with her powerful and emotive voice, particularly through her performances in "Songs of Paradise," a film directed by Danish Renzu, co-produced by Shafat Qazi, and with music composed by the acclaimed Abhay Rustum Sopori. The film’s soundtrack, featuring Masrat’s vocals, has resonated deeply with listeners, both within Kashmir and among the global Kashmiri diaspora.

Addressing the gathering, Masrat un Nissa expressed her gratitude and joy at being honoured by her fans and the cultural community. She remarked, "I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to sing for such a meaningful project like 'Songs of Paradise.' The love and support I have received from Kashmiris around the world have been overwhelming, and I am deeply thankful to everyone who has encouraged me." She also emphasized the importance of singing in the Kashmiri language, noting that it has helped connect people to their roots and heritage.

Azhar Hajini, a well-known television presenter and cultural activist, spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of Masrat’s contributions to Kashmiri music and culture. The event was also graced by the presence of Mantasha Binti Rashid, a senior JKAS officer and women’s rights activist, who extended her blessings and best wishes to the young singer. "Masrat’s talent and dedication are truly inspiring," she noted. "I have no doubt that she will continue to achieve great heights and bring even more pride to our community."

As part of the felicitation, Masrat un Nissa was presented with a traditional Kashmiri shawl, a bouquet of flowers, and a cake, which she cut amidst cheers and applause from her admirers.

In a heartfelt moment, Masrat fondly recalled the early days of her career and the pivotal role played by her first mentor, Dr. Aziz Hajini. She shared, "Hajini sir recognized my passion for singing when I was just a fifth-grade student at a Government school in Charar e Shareef, Budgam. He had a unique ability to identify talent and nurture it with unwavering support." She added that Dr. Hajini would often insist on her reciting verses of the revered Kashmiri saint and poet Sheikh ul Alam (RA) at cultural and literary events. "Those memories are very dear to me. People would often be moved to tears by the recitations, and their encouragement and blessings motivated me to pursue my dreams."

The event served as a reminder of the power of art and culture in fostering unity and pride among Kashmiris, both at home and abroad. It also underscored the importance of mentoring and supporting young talent to ensure the preservation and promotion of Kashmiri language, music, and traditions.(KNS)
