Jammu, Sep 15 (KNS): The RailOne app is gaining popularity among rail passengers in Jammu Division, with a significant number of commuters opting to book unreserved tickets through their mobile phones instead of ticket counters, officials said.
According to data available as of September 14, around 17 per cent of passengers at major NSG-1 to NSG-3 category stations booked unreserved tickets through the RailOne app.
At NSG-4 to NSG-6 category stations, the share was around 28 per cent, indicating a growing preference for digital ticketing among passengers, officials said.
RailOne is an all-in-one app developed by Indian Railways that enables passengers to access multiple railway services through a single platform.
Passengers can use the app to book unreserved and platform tickets, reserved tickets, check PNR status, track trains, view coach positions and train arrival and departure schedules, besides accessing grievance redressal and other services through Rail Madad.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The app also provides an e-catering facility, allowing passengers to order food during their journey.
The Railways has also introduced an incentive for passengers using the R-Wallet facility. Passengers recharging their R-Wallet and booking tickets through it are eligible for an additional three per cent bonus on the recharge amount.
Officials said the digital initiative is aimed at saving passengers' time, reducing queues and crowding at stations and promoting convenient, paperless rail travel.
Jammu Division has appealed to passengers to make greater use of the RailOne app and spread awareness about its facilities among fellow passengers, friends and relatives.
The division said the increasing use of the app reflects growing acceptance of digital services and would further facilitate smooth and convenient rail travel.
