Srinagar Dcember 10 (KNS): Apni Party General Secretary and former MLA Pahalgam Rafi Ahmad Mir on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is in dire need to have an elected government to ensure public issues and grievances are resolved up to the satisfaction of the masses. He said, “Only the elected public representatives would be in a position to have a grasp over the public issues and capability to resolve these issues.”

Mir was addressing a meeting of the Party delegates of Block Pahalgam at Town Hall Pahalgam today. Besides the party delegates and office bearers of Pahalgam Block, senior party leaders including Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, and Gul Mohammad Kully were present at the meeting.

According to a press note, certain party matters and issues that Pahagam residents are grappling with were thoroughly discussed in the meeting. On the occasion, Rafi Ahmad Mir, while emphasizing the need for immediate assembly elections in J&K, said, “Most of the public issues and grievances can only be resolved through certain political decisions. And, only an elected government would be able to make such political decisions.”

He added, “People have a democratic and constitutional right to have their own elected representatives at the helm of affairs. J&K should not be deprived of this right.” He assured the party delegates that Apni Party leadership will not leave any stone unturned to raise the public issues to the notice of concerned authorities to ensure these issues are sorted out without any further delay.”(KNS)
