Pr Secretary I&C P R Thakur, Chairperson KVIB Hina Bhat reviews performance of KVIB under JKREGP scheme

Srinagar June 8 Monitoring Committee meeting under J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme was held under the Chairmanship of Shri Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary to Government Industries & Commerce Department at Sanat Ghar Bemina Srinagar. The meeting was called to review the performance under JKREGP scheme in order to provide self-employment opportunities to the unemployed educated youth of UT of J&K. In the meeting, it was informed that during the year 2020-21, Margin Money to the tune of Rs. 22.14 crores has been released for establishment of 866 units under different sectors viz. manufacturing, service and agriculture allied schemes which has benefitted unemployed educated youth of UT of J&K. Principal Secretary to Government I&C was apprised that there is a huge success with regard to implementation of the scheme and first generation entrepreneurs are benefitted with the scheme. A financial dispensation of Rs. 60.00 crores has been advanced by the banks against the Margin Money component of Rs. 22.14 crores which has created employment opportunities for 5196 persons. 

Principal Secretary I&C was apprised that for the current financial year, an outlay of Rs. 25.00 crores has been earmarked for establishment of 1231 units in the rural areas of UT of J&K to benefit unemployed youth in particular educated ones falling in the age group of 18-40 years. 

It was further informed to the chair that Entrepreneurship development programmes for 933 aspirant entrepreneurs were organized by J & K KVIB to enhance the entrepreneur and financial skills of the entrepreneurs financed by the banks.

Principal Secretary I&C appreciated the performance of J&K KVIB and noted with satisfaction timely utilization of Margin Money funds by the Board. Further, he applauded the efforts of J&K KVIB in successful result oriented implementation of the scheme and stressed upon the officers to work in a mission mode in order to cater the benefits of JKREGP to all sections of the society.

Among others the meeting was attended by the Director Industries & Commerce Kashmir/Jammu, Director Planning Industries & Commerce, Officers from various Banks including J&K Bank, J&K State Cooperative Bank and J&K Grameen Bank and Officers of the Board. (KNS)
