Kupwara April 8 (KNS): A joint team of  Army and Police today seized approximately 9 kg of narcotics estimated to be worth Rs 65 crore after acting on a tip-off regarding a narco-militant smuggling module in Kupwara

Addressing a press conference, senior supritendent of police Kupwara, Dr. G.V Sundeep Chakarvarthy said, a narco-militant module busted during a joint operation executed by Army & Kupwara Police in which a smuggler Mukhtiyar Shah of Panjitara Tangdhar has been arrested and 9 kg of narcotics estimated to be worth Rs.50 crores recovered from their possession.

“We got information about a narco-militant smuggling module and a joint operation was executed by Indian Army’s 6 JAK RIF and Kupwara Police which led to arrest of one smuggler,” said SSP Kupwara as per Kashmir News Service (KNS).

“The accused smuggler was working in close tandem with militant handlers and were involved in drug trade to millitants operating in the Valley", Kupwara police chief added. 

"The accused smuggler was peddling drugs to financially help the millitants in Jammu and Kashmir. It is a very big hawala racket where the money is transferred without money movement and financed for millitancy activities", he added. (KNS)
