PM's Award for Excellence in Public Administration a recognition of team work: CEO Mission Youth

Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNS): Administrative Secretary Tribal Affairs Department and Chief Executive Officer, J&K Mission Youth, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary Tuesday said that the recent Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration was “recognition of team work” and a “proud moment” for entire Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration was the coherent toil of last two years. It comprised of full team work as trust of youth was established on the government,” Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary while speaking to KNS said.

He said during the efforts pressed in last two years the Mission Youth J&K succeeded in building trust of youth on the government. “It was recognition of our team work. Besides, the award brings further responsibility on our shoulders. Such awards inspire us practically for more work and improvements,” Dr. Chowdhary said.

He also said that receiving PM’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration was a proud moment for entire Jammu and Kashmir. “It was proud moment for entire J&K, Mission Youth, DCs of every district and others who supported the initiative vigorously and used efforts to engage youth into it,” he said.

To a query, the officer said that I got congratulatory messages from all over on phone, social media etc. “The Award is about team recognition,” he said.

When asked about future plans, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary said the award brings more responsibility on our shoulders. “The Mission Youth J&K will scale up its activities to engage left out youth in the schemes. As of now we have 15 schemes for youth from education, skill development, entrepreneurship etc. We will accelerate our efforts to aware youth about these schemes. Further whatever help our youth has needed, will be provided to them,” Dr. Chowdhary said.

He said across 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, there are few where there is little participation of youth however it will be our priority to concentrate on these districts and bring youth into the schemes. “Many districts have good number of youth who are engaged with Mission Youth J&K, while as few districts have little participation. It will be our topmost priority to cover imbalances in future,” he said.

“In times to come youth clubs will be activated more. Youth conventions at district and block levels will be organized with an aim to increase youth participation,” Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary said.

About tribal mobile schools, he said there is a need to come up with comprehensive policy so that the lacunas will get addressed appropriately. “The matter has been taken up at the government level. Several meetings have been held in recent past in this connection. Our proposal is to provide full year engagement to teachers involved with the tribal community. They are being provided 5-6 months teaching job while as they try to find out alternate employment for rest of the months. At this point of time we are trying to engage them for at least 9 months during initial phase. It is a policy matter and we are hopeful the matter will be resolved in due course of time,” he added.

He appealed to youth to realize their talent and explore opportunity instead of keeping themselves away from the schemes. “We have a lot of talent in Jammu and Kashmir. First our youth needs to realize the talent and then there is a need to explore the opportunities in and outside J&K,” he added. (KNS)
