PHDCCI, States Taxes Deptt hold meeting over GST Act

 
Srinagar, July 07 (KNS): The PHDCCI Kashmir delegation headed by its chairman Baldev Singh Raina, Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, CA Mushtaq Ahmad and Iqbal Fayaz Jan Deputy Resident Director PHDCCI was today invited by  Commissioner J&K State taxes Department for interaction meeting related to GST act 2017 . 

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the proceedings were chaired by Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS Commissioner, States Taxes Department, Sh.Manzoor Ahmad Bhat(KAS), Addl. Comissioner State Taxes (Adm & Enforcement) Kashmir, Danish Gill, Deputy Commissioner CGST.*

The statement reads that the officers of State Tax Department and GST Department interacted with PHDCCI and the tax payers, business community, traders and businessmen and members of prominent trade body representatives.  

It reads that the objective of the programme was to take feedback and concrete suggestions from the stakeholders and listen to their grievances besides spreading awareness amongst taxpayers regarding Indirect taxes.

Baldev Singh said the businessman of Kashmir are paying their taxes diligently despite various difficulties and although the sales tax department has undergone a sea of changes in the past few years and the traders are simultaneously upgrading and updating with pace of tax reforms in J&K. 

As per that statement besides other issues raised it was demanded for extension of time frame of VAT Amnesty which is long pending issue of Trade and Commerce of J&K. 

“Overall, it was a highly constructive and fruitful interactive session where the voices, thoughts and expert ideas of the PHDCCI EC member CA Mushtaq Ahmad were heard and recorded.l

Dr. Rashmi Singh ensured that all issues related to sales tax department and CBT will be resolved in consultation with Trade and Commerce of Kashmir. (KNS)
