Srinagar, Feb 06 (KNS): The personal intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the approval of Vailoo and Singhpora road tunnels have brought smiles to gloomy faces in South Kashmir. The decision of the Central Government has generated hopes of increasing economic activity in Kashmir.
The 4.5 km tunnel between Vailoo Kokernag and Singhpora Kishtwar approved by the Central government will shorten the distance by 70 kms and will make this road operational round the year and all weather thus bringing respite to the people who could travel only for five to six months during winter.
Akbar Khan a Vailoo resident aged 75 is thrilled by the approval of the Central Government for the construction of road tunnels as he says “this is a landmark achievement and will benefit generations for which we are indeed thankful to CM Mehbooba Mufti for her serious persuasion”.
The traders and business community of this area are also celebrating this achievement as they are seeing an opportunity for development in this area as an economic hub.
A young educated Mohammad Shafi says, “This road will bring more employment and economic benefits to the people who live on the both sides of this stretch because this road will be open and operational round the year and during winters when the national highway remains mostly shut this road.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
The road project will benefit people of the state at large as previously there was only one option for connecting Kashmir before Mughal Road although Mughal road was also one of the historic decision ,but the recent decision of connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country through this all weather round the year road is indeed a landmark decision which will have a positive impact on the tourism as well because these areas of Kokernag, Vailoo and Kishtwar have immense potential for the tourism and will bring in unlimited footfall for the Chenab valley and Vailoo, Kokernag, Achabal and Verinag areas resulting in development of economic chain in this whole area .
The local civil Society groups and people at large are excited with this ‘landmark’ decision and have expressed their gratitude to CM Mehbooba Mufti for this achievement. (KNS)
