People of J&K not illegal occupiers of its land, it belongs to them: Mehbooba Mufti

 
Srinagar, Feb 15 (KNS): People's democratic party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the BJP government is doing whatever it wants in J&K at gunpoint.

Addressing the press conference here at Srinagar, the PDP chief said that the land of J&K belongs to the people of J&K not to anyone else. "I want to make it clear to the local people that they have to control their own land," she said, adding that the local people here are not among the illegal occupiers, this land be it custodian, state land or other belongs to them.

She further said that the people are being persecuted in various ways as their houses are being destroyed, land is being taken away because there is no supremacy of democracy here. "Anyone who raises an anti-ruling party voice in the country, be it a journalist or politician, being put behind bars," she added.

She further said that there is an atmosphere of hooliganism in the whole country at present and it has been started by the government from J&K. About the introduction of Hindi language in schools, she said that the government is enforcing everything through the barrel of gun.  "Being a Muslim majority state our own language here was Urdu otherwise we have no enmity with the Hindi language," she said, adding that the government does whatever it wants to do here at gunpoint.

About Amit Shah remarks regarding statehood, she said that she doesn't believe his words because he himself has said that he says phrases during elections which are not being done afterwards.(KNS)
