People aghast over delay in completion of fruit mandi in Budgam’s Krimshora

Budgam, Sept 10 (KNS): Fruit growers and traders of central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against Horticulture department over unreaonable delay in completion of Fruit Mandi Krimshora.

People especially fruit growers of the area have alleged that the delay in completion of the Fruit Mandi at Krimshora was causing heavy financial losses to them as there is no other fruit market in the close vicinity to offer them marketting facility.

They said that they have donated about 20 canals of land for construction of a vegetable and fruit mandi in the area but ironically the Horticulture department has left its construction halfway adding that 20 percent of the infrastructure was yet to be constructed to make the mfruit mandi functional.

They also alleged that the department concerned has stopped funding of the under construction fruit mandi without any reason.

“Payments due to the contractors have also been withheld, making the whole matter fishy.”

They have appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to order an enquirey as to why funding for the fruit mandi has been stopped. (KNS)
