PAGD should contest elections jointly to keep BJP, it's A & B teams at bay: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Apr 27 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that PAGD should contest elections jointly to keep BJP and it's A and B teams at bay.

Talking to reporters at Nawa-e-Subah Srinagar, Omar said that he personally wants that PAGD should contest elections jointly and should not allow BJP and it's A and B teams to divide votes.

"It is my personal opinion but the final decision lies with the PAGD whether they will contest elections jointly as I am not any office bearer of the conglomerate,” he added.

Replying a question over curtailment of electricity at Sehri and Iftar times, Omar said that he sometimes feels that deliberate attempts are being made to keep electricity away in order to dusturb people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"I believe there can be electricity crisis but they can provide us electricity whenever we need it most, but keeping electricity all night and then making curtailment at Sehri and Iftar times is what I feel is deliberate attempt to play with our emotions,” he added.

On being asked about fresh Hijab row in Kashmir, Omar said that no government has right to interfere in the religious matters and anyone can follow any part of his religion as per their will.

He added that fresh hijab row in Kashmir is an attempt to bring Karnataka to Kashmir. (KNS)
