Northern Railway operates unreserved service in both directions to ease festive rush

Jammu, Nov 5 (KNS): More than 500 passengers travelled on a special unreserved train service between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on Thursday, as Northern Railway operated additional services to accommodate the increased passenger rush during the festive season.

The Jammu Division of Northern Railway operated train No. 04690 from Srinagar to Katra and train No. 04689 on the return journey, providing an additional travel option for passengers without advance reservations.

Railway officials said the special service benefited passengers travelling from Srinagar, Anantnag and Banihal towards Katra, particularly those seeking affordable and convenient travel during the festive period.

The service was introduced in view of increased passenger movement during the festivals, with railway authorities focusing on easing congestion and ensuring safe travel.

According to officials, more than 500 passengers availed themselves of the special trains in both directions on Thursday.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, said the decision to operate the additional service was taken after assessing passenger demand on the Srinagar-Katra route.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
