Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday asserted that the state is facing overt and covert onslaught on its special status from various quarters saying that the need of the hour calls for having such parliamentarians from Kashmir who can laboriously work inside and outside of parliament for the defense of state’s integrity and unique character. 

Addressing  a meet of segment in charges, district presidents, constituency in charges, block presidents, block secretaries of Srinagar-Budgam parliament constituency here at  party head quarters Nawa- e- Subha, Srinagar , party vice president said that the state witnessed unrelenting attacks on its institutions, its financial autonomy and an unprecedented assail on its constitutional status. 

“The embrace of PDP with BJP opened the flood gates of state for all forces as have traditional shown abhorrence of state’s special character. Every walk of life here in our state bears the brunt of PDP’s tie up with BJP. The forces as are hostile to our unique constitutional status are contriving hard to destroy the constitutional safe guard the special character of our state.” 

“Nonetheless the elections to LS afford us an opportunity to send credible voices to parliament which can forcefully and assertively work both inside and outside the parliament for guarding the identity and integrity of our state.  Such voices can pursue the case of granting autonomy to the state.” 

Exuding confidence into the workers and party functionaries, Omar said, “The party has fielded such people from the three parliamentary constituencies as have the necessary political acumen and experience.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFrom Srinagar we cannot have imagined someone else other than Dr. Farooq Abdullah. Our candidate for south Kashmir is legal luminary justice Hassnain Masudi whose pronounced judgments and articles reveal his legal acumen and dedication. Our candidate from north Kashmir’s Baramulla LS Constituency is Muhammad Akbar Lone, again a former Advocate. He has served at many key posts in the cabinet. He is a fighter, and we wanted a person of his standing and political acumen who could fight for the interests of our state in Lok Sabha,” adding, “For Srinagar we could not think of anybody other than Dr. Farooq Abdullah. He is not novice to the politics of state. A four time chief minister, he has been representing state in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha many a times in the past as well. To have a person of his national standing representing state in Lok Sabha will benefit the interests of state.” 

Party Vice President asked the party functionaries to remain vigilant of the machinations of the RSS-BJP and its cronies in the state.
