Srinagar, Mar 03 (KNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday blamed National Conference (NC) for playing vote bank politics over the ban imposed on Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Baramulla correspondent, BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur said NC was playing vote bank politics over JeI's ban. "It was NC regime in the past that banned JeI here. When Zulfikar Bhutoo was hanged, NC was on the forefront in the protests and now have taken U turn keeping in view of elections," he said.
He added decision to impose ban on JeI might have been taken after gathering proper and adequate proof. "BJP is not playing vote bank politics anyway," he said, adding that it is urged upon the govt to take control of the schools run by JeI so that the students as well the teachers won't suffer.
About surgical strike and related developments in the State, Thakur said nation first is BJP's priority and it will take every decision that will be in favour of nation. "Though the surgical strikes are being taken by forces but there should be a political will as well to carry such strikes. BJP is gaining across the country only due to developmental process carried out by Primd Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
He added in view of elections, regional parties in the state are dividing people here while as fearing BJP's ground, the political parties of the country have joined hands to defeat the party, which will never happen.
About Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Thakur said BJP will win more seats as compared to previous election and will have its own chief minister. (KNS)
