Mumbai, Oct 9 (KNS): Veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini has revealed that actor Nana Patekar had tried calling her barely a week before his death, but she missed the call as she was travelling, a moment she recalled with shock following his sudden demise.

According to a News18 report, Hema Malini, speaking to news agency IANS, said she had remained in contact with Patekar despite the two never having worked together in a film.

"He rang a few days back. He spoke to me also. Just about a week back also I had one call, I think. But somehow I missed because I was travelling. So, when I heard today, I was shocked," she told IANS.

The actress said the news of Patekar's sudden death came as a shock, particularly as they had spoken recently and he had attempted to contact her again shortly before his passing.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Patekar, known for his powerful performances and distinctive dialogue delivery, died on October 8 at the age of 75 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest in Goa.

The veteran actor had established himself as one of Hindi cinema's most recognised performers through a career spanning several decades.

His death has prompted tributes from members of the film fraternity, political leaders and admirers, who have remembered his contributions to Indian cinema and social causes.

Hema Malini's recollection of their final interactions has added a personal note to the tributes pouring in for the late actor. (KNS)
