Srinagar, Nov 08 (KNS): Former Minister and Apni Party Provincial President Kashmir Mohammed Ashraf Mir along with DDC Chairman Srinagar Malik Aftab on Sunday conducted an extensive tour of Balhama-Srinagar.
The duo met with various local delegations who apprised them about their pressing grievances while seeking their prompt intervention so that the sufferings of the people are alleviated at earliest.
In a statement issued here, Mohammad Ashraf Mir said the people in Balhama are facing immense inconveniences due to sporadic electric supply and load shedding.
"It is highly regrettable that at this time of winter people have to grapple with an erratic power supply. We even visited the receiving station Balhama where the DDC Chairman Srinagar Malik Aftab assured the people that the same power facility will be soon upgraded to 6.6 KV so that an ample power supply in the area is maintained effectively," Mir said.
He said the people also complained about the deplorable condition of an inner road that requires immediate macadamisation. "Having access to better road connectivity remains highly imperative for the public welfare. We assured the people that apposite measures will be taken for the early macadamisation of the road that spans up to 1 kilometer due to which people have to suffer immensely," he said.
During this public outreach program, Malik Aftab also reiterated that the council members are committed to work for the betterment of public infrastructure and all the necessary steps for public welfare shall be taken without any fail. "The public representatives shoulder a great responsibility to timely address the grievances of the people. I want to assure that all the requisite steps for the upgradation of public infrastructure will be taken in a phased manner," he added.
Malik Aftab also said the area lacks basic playground facilities due to which youth are unable to get involved in purposeful activities. “While numerous hectares of state land are currently confiscated by the influential persons in the area, the youth are yearning for a proper playground. More than 16 representatives of cricket and football teams demanded for allocating necessary space for the playground. I have promised to raise this pressing plea with the competent authorities so that our youth potential is channelized in a better way and adoption of any divergent path is vigilantly avoided,” he said.
Besides, BDC Chairperson Ghulam Hussain, Apni Party District Vice President Srinagar Mohammad Shafi Mir, Youth Joint Secretary Yasoob Abbas along with various Sarpanchs, Panchs and party workers were also present. (KNS)
