Srinagar, Feb 13 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq met the Imam of New Delhi’s historic Shahi Jamia Masjid, Moulana Syed Ahmad Bukhari, Jamiat Ulema Hind President, Moulana Mahmood Ahmad Madani and other Muslims leaders and exchanged thoughts over the worsening political situation in Jammu Kashmir, human rights violations, issues confronting the Islamic world and Indian Muslims.
Expressing concern over the targeting of a particular community in India, carrying their arrests, detentions and harassments and political victimization, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman while calling for an immediate end to these policies said this was not only undemocratic but also against all principles of humanity and justice.
Holding detailed deliberation over the current political situation of Jammu Kashmir with the top Indian Muslim leaders, the Mirwaiz said that Kashmir was a political issue and we demand a political and peaceful solution in accordance with the aspiration of its people. Mirwaiz emphasised that people of Kashmir support meaningful engagement between India and Pakistan. He also hoped that Indian Muslim leadership would not remain silent towards the injustices done to the people of Kashmir.
Mirwaiz strongly rejected the notion and termed the comparisons drawn between the struggle of the Kashmiris with extremism and terrorism as unfortunate and unacceptable.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He stressed that the struggle of the Kashmiri people is peaceful and political,based on principle of truth and justice, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Kashmir’s resistance movement has no link with Daesh (ISIS) or Al Qaeda and stated that people who try to relate Kashmir struggle with these groups were defaming our just struggle.
Stressing that the struggle of Kashmiri people and their resistance movement was no way related to terrorism, the Mirwaiz said Islam and terrorism were two opposite poles as the great religion of Islam was meant for the welfare of the entire humanity.
Explaining that some people and groups, who were promoting terrorism in the name of Islam, had no concern with it, he said these people were just maligning the great religion at the behest of anti-Islamic forces.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) also condemned the sedition charges imposed by Delhi Police on Prof. S A R Geelani and said the move was against the democratic values and freedom of expression.
