Srinagar, Jan 03 (KNS): The Inspector General of police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Monday said that the second militant killed in the encounter in Shalimar area of Srinagar was involved in the killing of two policemen in Bandipora on December 10 last year.

Kashmir zone police, while quoting IGP Kashmir on its official Twitter handle said that the slain militant has been identified as Hafiz alias Hamza of Pakistan.

The IGP said that he was involved in the killing of tel policemen in Bandipora and after that attack, he shifted to Harwan area of #Srinagar.

Police had said that a militant has been killed in the encounter in Gasu area of Shalimar today evening, following the killing of a top LeT commander in the area.

Earlier in the day, a top militant commander of LeT, Salim Parray from Hajin locality of Bandipora was killed in a brief shootout in Shalimar area. (KNS)
