Kashmir July 8 (KNS): The All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA) organised solemn Majlis-e-Aza gatherings at Sarai Dangarpora (Sumbal), Shatalpora (Sumbal), and Harda Panzoo (Beerwah) to mark the sacred days of Muharram and honour the legacy of Imam Hussain (AS). The events drew large participation from local communities, bound together in collective remembrance and mourning for the martyrs of Karbala.
At Shatalpora, AJKSA President Molvi Imran Reza Ansari addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message centred on preserving the sanctity of Azadari. Speaking with clarity and emotion, he appealed to the community to ensure that the first 14 days of Muharram remain free from all geopolitical colours and narratives.
“We have the rest of the year to engage in geopolitics, but these sacred days belong to Imam Hussain (AS),” he said. “When there is a death in our family, we cry not just for our loved ones but also remember the pain of Karbala. Then how can we, in these same moments of mourning, allow flags, slogans, and political branding to interfere with the grief of Hussain (AS)?” He stressed that this was not a call to abandon any political thought or ideology but a reminder that Hussainiyat transcends all political and geopolitical affiliations.
He also addressed a recent controversy surrounding a video clip in which his remarks were selectively edited and misrepresented.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“I spoke against Yazeed, the tyrant of Karbala, and I stand by every word,” he said. “What I did not do is insult any companion of the Prophet (SAWW). It is unfortunate and painful that instead of clarifying the truth, one of our own Shia organisations stood with the accusations levelled by MMU. They need to make their position clear. Karbala is not vague. You are either with Imam Hussain (AS) or you are not.”
The Majlis was attended by senior members of the AJKSA, including the General Secretary, who stood in solidarity with the President’s statement. At Harda Panzoo (Beerwah), a Zuljanah procession was led by Irfan Ansari, and a Sabeel was arranged to serve mourners with traditional offerings reflecting the spirit of service and hospitality that defines these days.
As the Valley enters a spiritually significant period, the AJKSA has urged all believers to rise above divisions and geopolitics and come together in the name of Imam Hussain (AS) a symbol of sacrifice, truth, and resistance against tyranny. “Karbala is not history it is a living mirror,” said Molvi Imran Reza. “And it calls on us not just to remember, but to reflect, and to walk the path of Hussain (AS) with dignity and purpose.”(KNS)
