Jammu, Sep 21 (KNS): Lieutenant General Mohit Seth will take over as the new General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) of the strategically vital White Knight Corps, based at Nagrota in Jammu.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that he will succeed Lt Gen P K Mishra on October 1 in a baton handing ceremony. Lt Gen Mishra will move to a new posting.

Lt Gen Seth has held key command and staff appointments, including as GOC of the Counter-Insurgency Force Kilo. He is presently serving as Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT), the Indian Army's training establishment in Bhutan.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the National Defence College (NDC), Lt Gen Seth was commissioned into the 3 Madras Regiment in 1991.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe has also served as Indian Army Liaison Officer at the High Commission of India in the United Kingdom.

The White Knight Corps covers the region south of the Pir Panjal range, extending from the Pir Panjal and Shivalik ranges to the plains of Jammu and Akhnoor.

It is responsible for guarding the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC), besides conducting intensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and the erstwhile Doda districts, officials said. (KNS)
