Ganderbal, Feb 21 (KNS): National Conference president and Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said the land erosion in Razen village of central Kashmir's Ganderbal was due to the ongoing work on Z-Morh tunnel.

"I feel the landslide in Raze, Ganderbal occurred due to ongoing construction work on Z-Morh tunnel," he told reporters

While visiting the affected spot, he appealed to LG led administration to relocate the affected families to safer places and provide them with adequate compensation so that they can build their homes and restart their lives once again.

Notably, Z-Morh Tunnel is under-construction 6.5 km long 2-lane road tunnel between Gagangair and Sonamarg and is named after the Z-shaped stretch of road that the tunnel will replace.

Together with the adjacent Zojila Tunnel, it will provide all weather connectivity to Ladakh and Baltal, and will reduce the earlier 3.5 hours travel time to just 15 minutes drive. (KNS)
