Kupwara ,17 May (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the border town of Karnah and chaired a high-level review meeting at the Mini-Secretariat in Tangdar.
The meeting witnessed the presence of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, and officials from nearly 20 key departments—underscoring a strong administrative commitment to address local issues.
During his visit, LG Sinha interacted with local delegations who presented a series of crucial demands aimed at improving the quality of life in the remote border region.
A delegation led by Beoparmandal President Haji Tasleem Mir, representing Karnah’s business community, sought immediate compensation for shopkeepers whose infrastructure and goods were damaged in recent cross-border incidents. Meanwhile, another delegation, led by Asif Mir of Civil Society Karnah, called for the upgradation of hospital facilities, construction of protective bunkers, and relief for families whose homes were damaged due to shelling. The delegation also expressed concern over the absence of fire service vehicles in the area, which poses a serious risk during emergencies.
LG Manoj Sinha assured both delegations that their concerns would be addressed on priority. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures, improving infrastructure, and expediting relief efforts for the affected residents of Karnah.
This landmark visit marks a significant step toward direct engagement between the administration and the people of Karnah—paving the way for sustainable development, improved security, and stronger disaster preparedness in this strategically important border region. (KNS)
