KNS cautions public against fake portals misusing its logo

Srinagar, Aug 26 (KNS) : The Kashmir News Service (KNS) on Wednesday alerted the public against certain online portals that are allegedly misusing its logo and identity, asserting that these platforms have no affiliation whatsoever with the news agency.

In a public appeal, the agency said the unauthorised use of its branding could mislead readers and undermine the credibility of information being circulated in the digital space.

"The practice of using established media organisations' logos and names by unaffiliated portals is a matter of serious concern. We have taken note of such instances and urge the public to remain vigilant," KNS said.

The news agency has formally requested the Cyber Crime authorities to look into the matter and initiate appropriate legal action against those found using its trademark without permission.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The development comes amid a growing trend of digital platforms resorting to cloning identities of mainstream media organisations to gain traction and lend an air of authenticity to their content.

KNS has appealed to readers to cross-check any news or statement attributed to it through its official channels and not to treat content on such fraudulent portals as genuine.

The agency made it clear that any platform using its logo or name without explicit authorisation has no connection with KNS and should not be considered a source of its reportage. (KNS)
