Srinagar, May 08 (KNS): While condemning the unabated civilian killings, Kashmir Economic Forum (KEF) has asked state government to rein in the government forces and ask them to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with the protesters.
In a statement issued to KNS, KEF Chairman Showkat M Chowdhary said situation is going out of control due to repressive measures adopted by the state government against local youth.
“We condemn civilian killings and no society will accept such repressive measures. The repressive measures adopted by Police and government forces have only backfired and resulted in the more killings of civilians.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Chowdhay urged state government to impress upon Government of India to announce ceasefire ahead of month of Ramadhan and give a peace a chance.
“Bullet is no solution to any problem. Dialogue should be initiated forthwith so that solution to this problem is found. The dialogue will be held if bullets are not fired and ceasefire is announced,” he said.
KEF also condemned the death of a tourist who was killed during a stone-throwing incident at Narbal. (KNS)
