Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq asserted that Kashmiri Pandits are "not outsiders" but an integral part of the Valley's society, culture, and future, while making a fresh appeal for their return and rehabilitation.

The Kashmir's cleric told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the community is "our own people" and forms an inseparable thread of Kashmir's composite history and pluralistic ethos.

"We have said this repeatedly, and we will continue our efforts. I hope the government will also persist with its initiatives," Mirwaiz said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He termed any threats against the community as "deeply unfortunate" and stressed the need to preserve Kashmir's traditional spirit of co-existence.

Notably, Over 30,000 Kashmiri Pandit families migrated from the Valley in the early 1990s following the onset of armed insurgency. Their return has remained a politically sensitive issue, with successive administrations announcing multiple relief and resettlement packages, though large-scale rehabilitation is yet to materialise.
