Srinagar, Oct 1(KNS): Dr. Taha Ashraf Qureshi, a Kashmiri medical professional, has achieved the highest position in the inaugural Fellowship in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (FAAI) course and has been honored with the prestigious "Dr. Pudupakkam K. Vedanthan Gold Medal" in recognition of his exceptional performance in the FAAI course for the year 2023.

The FAAI program was a collaborative effort between AIIMS Rishikesh, PGI Chandigarh, and International Asthma Services in Denver, USA. It marked the first-of-its-kind fellowship, with the first group of candidates from India and around the world participating in June 2023.

Certificates of completion for the FAAI course will be officially presented during the upcoming graduation ceremony scheduled for December 2023 at AIIMS, Rishikesh. At this event, Dr. Taha Ashraf Qureshi will receive the prestigious "Dr. Pudupakkam K. Vedanthan Gold Medal," while "Dr. Stephen Berman Silver Medal" will be awarded to Dr. Dipak Kumar Gupta.

Dr. Taha Ashraf serves as an Allergy Specialist at the Allergy Clinic in JLNM Hospital. The Directorate of Health Services in Jammu and Kashmir established this clinical facility, which has quickly gained recognition due to the high prevalence of allergic diseases in the region.

Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, commended Dr. Taha for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to service. He highlighted Dr. Taha's impressive achievement, stating, "I am delighted to see Dr. Taha strengthen his specialized field with exceptional research and learning, setting himself apart." Dr. Meenu Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr. P. K. Vedanthan, Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado, Denver, who serve as FAAI course directors and are globally renowned allergy and immunology specialists, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the accomplished individuals.
