Srinagar, Nov 4 (KNS): Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda is scheduled to review the construction progress of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday, sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS).

Sources said the review is expected to focus on the pace of construction, completion of various infrastructure components and the remaining work required to make the healthcare facility operational.

The Rs 2,160.84 crore project, envisaged as a 750-bed tertiary healthcare institution, is among the major healthcare infrastructure projects being developed in Jammu and Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

According to the latest project status, approximately 81 per cent of the physical work has been completed, while construction and allied infrastructure development are underway.

Sources said the Union Minister is expected to assess the overall progress, identify pending requirements and review the timelines for completion of the project.

Once operational, AIIMS Awantipora is expected to strengthen specialised healthcare services in Kashmir and reduce the dependence of patients on medical institutions outside the region for advanced treatment. (KNS)
