Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed concern over the news reports about Kashmir witnessing heroin epidemic.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), JKCSF chairman, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that this report had snatched the sleep from eyes as the concerned medical experts and consultants have meaningfully called it a 'heroin epidemic' and have warned about the prevailing and future consequences of the situation, if left uncured.

Wani appealed to all the stakeholders in government as well as the society to take this matter seriously and to inculcate provisions for sports and recreation as an alternative to boost the positive mental and emotional status of the youth.

He has appealed the religious scholars, Imams and heads of academic and tution centres to set up proper lessons for behavioural classes under moral education modules.

Wani also appealed to Directors of Health in Kashmir and Jammu to establish drug de-addiction centres in each district. (KNS)
