JKAS 2011 Batch Stands in Solidarity with SDM Sunaina Saini, Condemns Unlawful Protest by Lawyers

Srinagar, Aug 02(KNS): Members of the JKAS 2011 batch express solidarity with SDM Sunaina Saini and denounce the recent incident at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)/Sub Registrar office in Ghagwal.

The group strongly condemns the unruly actions of a group of lawyers during their protest on Monday, which amounted to harassment of a public servant on duty.

The incident involved lawyers storming Sunaina Saini's office along with media personnel, staging a protest in a mob-like manner, which has unfortunately been mischaracterized as a "meeting" in some media reports. As civil servants, they firmly advocate for the rule of law and respect for authority, and emphasize the importance of using appropriate channels to address grievances. Such aggressive behavior and intimidation violate the sanctity of a public office and undermine the principles of a civilized legal system.

Sunaina Saini, like any public servant, deserves to work in an environment free from fear and intimidation. As members of the JKAS 2011 batch, they stand by her dedication to public service and call upon legal practitioners and professionals to uphold respect, integrity, and professionalism in their actions.

They appeal to the LG led administration to take note of the matter, as similar incidents may occur in other public offices, requiring urgent attention. The group requests appropriate action against those involved in the unlawful protest and harassment of Sunaina Saini. They also seek an unconditional apology from the concerned Bar association.

In preserving the values of a functioning democracy, respectful dialogue and adherence to the rule of law are essential, and the members of the JKAS 2011 batch are committed to upholding these principles.(KNS).
