Chairs All Party Meet in Jammu, Discusses prevailing situation

Jammu, Mar 11 (KNS): Member Parliament and former Chief Minister J&K, Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that Lieutenant Governor led dispensation does not represent people’s aspirations as “anti-people” laws are being imposed in J&K unabated.

“There is uncertainty everywhere in J&K. It is the right of State Assembly to take a call on imposition of property tax like issues,” Dr. Farooq Abdullah as per KNS said after culmination of All Parties Meeting held at his residence in Jammu here.

“This is a temporary government. It is not a people’s government. It is a government of Delhi. People’s government is Assembly where members have to decide what is right and what is wrong,” Dr. Farooq said while in an apparent reply to imposition of property tax by J&K government. He at the occasion reiterated his demand of restoration of state assembly.

Earlier the leaders from Jammu and Kashmir met at NC President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s Jammu residence where they decided to meet Election Commission of India to seek early assembly polls in J&K. The leaders at the occasion discussed the prevailing situation of J&K including imposition of property tax, demolition drive, new land laws etc.

Dr Abdullah was flanked by former minster and National Panther’s Party Leader, Harshdev Singh, JK Congress Chief Vikar Rasool Wani, former Minister and Congress Vice President Raman Bhalla, DDC member and AAP leader Taranjit Singh Tony, former MLA M Y Taragami, JK Shiv Sena President Manish Sahwany, PDP leader Amrik Singh Reen and others.

While replying to a query, Dr. Farooq said religion was used to create division between Hindus and Muslims in the region. “While using religion Hindu was told that a Muslim will kill you and vice-versa,” he said.

“We must not forget that J&K is a secular state and will remain secular. All faiths in the region lives shoulder by shoulder together. J&K is crown of India and with the grace of God, it will remain Crown of India in future as well,” Dr. Farooq Abdullah held.

Speaking on the prevailing situation, the NC President said media has no guts to broadcast the reality to people across. “Instead of asking me this and that, I want to ask you do you have guts to communicate truth to people across the country. I know the situation is adverse right now and you too are forced to succumb before the circumstances,” he said.

Over Hindu Rashtra, he said “J&K has merged with the Union of India after observing the principles of Gandhi”. (KNS)
