Mumbai Oct 12 (KNS): The week-long media exposure tour of journalists from Jammu and Kashmir, organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), concluded on a high and memorable note in Mumbai. The tour aimed to provide J&K journalists with hands-on exposure to India’s premier institutions, enhance inter-regional media understanding, and strengthen professional collaboration at the national level.
Before leaving for the tour, the delegation was briefed in Srinagar by Director PIB Srinagar, Qazi Salman, along with his team members including Majid Mushtaq Media & Communication Officer ,who guided the participants about the objectives and importance of the visit. The orientation session highlighted the Government of India’s vision of building stronger ties between regional and national media networks.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, the delegation was warmly received at the airport by PIB officials, who welcomed the team with the traditional Fainta turban, symbolizing Maharashtra’s rich culture and hospitality — a gesture that set the tone for the cordial and enlightening journey ahead.
The delegation was led by Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, and meticulously coordinated by PIB Mumbai, whose exceptional hospitality and logistical support won wide praise from all participants. The visit was part of the Government’s continued initiative to promote media literacy, national integration, and knowledge exchange among journalists from different parts of the country.
During the week-long engagement, the team visited some of India’s most vital and dynamic institutions, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (Mumbai), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Film City Mumbai, National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC), Department of Atomic Energy, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Disaster Management Department Mumbai, and also interacted with the Public Relations Office of IIT Bombay.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
At each of these institutions, the delegation received detailed briefings and interactive sessions with senior officials who shared valuable insights into their respective domains — from economic resilience and maritime security to infrastructure development, education, innovation, cinema, and disaster management.
The highlight of the tour was the interactive session at PIB Mumbai, where the journalists had an in-depth discussion with Smt. Smita Vats Sharma, Director General (West Zone), on evolving media challenges, ethical reporting, and the role of regional journalism in shaping public discourse.
Speaking on the occasion, Neha Jalali, Director PIB Jammu, praised the enthusiasm and professionalism of the journalists, describing the tour as “a bridge of learning and national integration through journalism.”
The J&K media team expressed heartfelt gratitude to PIB Mumbai, PIB Jammu, and all the departments and institutions — including JNPA, MMRDA, NFDC, NMIC, Film City, IIT Bombay PRO Office, Municipal Corporation of Mumbai, Disaster Management Department, and the Department of Atomic Energy — for their warm welcome, informative interactions, and exemplary coordination.
The journalists described the tour as “an unforgettable learning experience and an inspiring professional journey,” which not only enriched their understanding of India’s administrative and economic framework but also strengthened the bonds between media professionals across regions.
As the delegation concluded its Mumbai visit, members unanimously lauded the efforts of PIB Jammu Director Neha Jalali,PIB Srinagar and the PIB Mumbai team for their tireless coordination and hospitality, calling the tour “a perfect example of media collaboration and knowledge exchange in action.”(KNS)....
