J&K delegation promotes horticulture produce in Dubai Food Security Summit

 

Jammu, Dec 8 (KNS): To promote Kashmiri fruits particularly Apple in international market, J&K Government delegation is participating in 4-day long India-UAE Food Security Summit 2020 in Dubai.
The Summit starting from 7th to 11th December aims to promote Kashmiri fruits in international market & delegation would exchange some MoU with various multi-national companies of UAE. The delegation is holding a Fruit show & would hold Business to Business meeting with various multi-national companies of UAE for promotion of fruits grown in J&K.
The J&K Government delegation is led by Principal Secretary Horticulture Navin Kumar Choudhary, Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmed Bhat & a large number of Farmers & Growers, industrialists are attending the summit.
Principal Secretary Navin Choudhary in his address said that India and UAE are enjoying the friendly relation and to deepen that relation this summit is being held where “our cooperation in the primary sector particularly food security could be enhanced between the two countries.”
Pertinent to mention that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during the launch of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS)-2020 for Apple had said, “The Horticulture sector, in particular, has an immense growth potential and the J&K Government is making all out efforts to tap the potential in order to give a fillip to the socio-economic condition of all those who are associated with the sector and contribute to the betterment of livelihood of Apple Growers”
Officials said that whole endeavour of this event and discussions are that business houses among themselves of the two countries set up coordinative efforts so that marketing of agricultural and horticultural produce of India and UAE markets are strengthened.
President Federation Chamber of Industries and Commerce Kashmir (FCIK) Shahid Kamli who is part of the delegation thanks UT Governor Manoj Sinha for the initiative.
“Yes it is a very welcome step and a market boosting step. Thanks to Lt Governor , Principal Secretary to Horticulture Department Navin Choudhary and Aman Puri counsel General of India in Dubai for making it a happen and hope for its success."
He added, “I have lot of hope to open our products to international market and that too in this pandemic. We have received an overwhelming support and response from the hosts and everyone is pretty sure to have a take."(KNS)
