Jammu gears up for lohri festivities tomorrow with traditional fervor and gaiety

Jammu, January 12 (KNS): The vibrant and exuberant spirit of Lohri has swept through the markets of Jammu, with shopkeepers adorning their stalls in a riot of colors showcasing Mungfali (peanuts), Gachak (sesame seed and jaggery brittle), and Khajoor (dates) in anticipation of the festive celebration.
 
The streets have come alive with the twinkle of festive lights and traditional embellishments, weaving a joyful ambiance resonating with the spirit of Lohri.
 
News agency KNS reported that locals and visitors are fully immersed in the festive atmosphere, as families converge on the markets for the customary shopping spree synonymous with the Lohri festival.
 
Market stalls are a kaleidoscope of choices, as shopkeepers and vendors proudly present an array of Mungfali, Gachak, and Khajoor. 
 
The sweet fragrance of freshly prepared Gachak permeates the air, beckoning passersby to savor the traditional treats that define Lohri festivities.
 
Rajesh Kumar, a local vendor, expresses, "We take pride in decorating our stalls with the finest Mungfali, Gachak, and Khajoor. The response from customers has been overwhelming, and the festive cheer is contagious."
 
As families gear up for bonfires and the customary Lohri celebrations, Jammu's markets contribute to the communal spirit and togetherness that characterize the festival. 
 
Laughter and joy echo through the streets as people shop for essentials, engaging in the spirit of giving that Lohri symbolizes.
 
The Lohri celebrations in Jammu not only delight the senses but also serve as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and traditions that bind the community together during this auspicious festival.
 
It is celebrated across North India, particularly in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu, and Chandigarh.
 
"Lohri, a celebration deeply rooted in agrarian traditions, is associated with the joyous culmination of the winter harvest. Tomorrow, communities will come together to revel in the age-old customs that mark the festival, creating a lively and festive atmosphere, Officials said.
 
"The festival holds a special place in the hearts of people as it is a time to express gratitude for the bountiful harvest and to rejoice in the prosperity it brings.As the first rays of the Lohri sun illuminate the sky tomorrow, the air will be filled with the aroma of traditional delicacies, and the sound of joyous laughter will resonate through the towns and villages.
