Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Tuesday said the government should focus on eliminating corruption and serving the common people, while urging patience over political developments within the ruling National Conference.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the senior BJP leader was asked about reports of discontent among National Conference MLAs and their alleged absence from party activities.

"Please wait and be patient. If I say something now, it would be a bit hasty," BJP leader Sunil Sharma said.

Responding to a question about his repeated assertions that the government could fall, Sharma said there was no need to rush to conclusions.

"It has not even been an hour. Why are you in such a hurry?" he said, adding that the government would fall after the National Conference.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Asked about his offer to address the grievances of disgruntled legislators, Sharma said it was Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's responsibility to address the concerns of his party's MLAs.

He reiterated that the BJP is waiting for the government to move beyond corruption and work for the welfare of the common people.

The remarks came after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office to four legislators — Ali Mohammad Sagar, Shamima Firdous, Mir Saifullah and Altaf Kaloo — at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar on Tuesday. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other political leaders were present at the ceremony.

The induction took the Council of Ministers to its maximum permissible strength of nine members, including the chief minister. Independent minister Satish Sharma was dropped as part of the reshuffle. (KNS)
